I am an athletic and healthy woman in her forties. Levaquin 500mg was prescribed for me to take for 10 days after cauterization of a nasal passage.

On the third day I developed diarrhea and took acidophilus to try and balance my intestinal flora. On the 5th or 6th day my joints ached so bad I could barely get out of bed, it was awful.

I lost 4 LB in 8 days and stopped taking the medication. My low back is still stiff and sore, but fortunately my other joints are back to normal.

The next time I am asked by a member of the medical profession if I am allergic to any medications, I will make sure 'Levaquin' is listed in capitol letters.
